Norway and EU transport rules
Norway is not an EU member, but it is part of the European Economic Area. Many EU transport data rules are relevant in Norway through the EEA agreement, and Norwegian actors use the same European standards as the EU. For the exact legal status of a rule in Norway, check the official Norwegian sources.
The National Access Point
Transportportal is Norway's National Access Point for transport data. It is the catalogue to search for datasets and their metadata. See National Access Points for how a NAP works in general.
Entur
Entur is a state-owned company that collects national public transport data and runs the national journey planner. Its developer portal describes the data and APIs that developers can use. Public transport data in Norway is commonly handled in the European formats NeTEx and SIRI, and a national or Nordic profile of NeTEx is used to keep data consistent.
Finding and using Norwegian data
- Search Transportportal for the dataset and read its metadata. See metadata and licences.
- For public transport, look at the documentation on Entur's developer portal.
- Check which profile and licence apply before building on the data.
Developers: see how to use transport data.
Other countries
Each country organises things differently. For examples, see the overview of National Access Points, including Finland, Germany, France and the Netherlands.

MMTIS.org is an independent website and is not affiliated with Entur, Transportportal or any other organisation mentioned. Check their own pages for current and authoritative information.
